I have a relatively new job with a marketing start-up. I develop the websites they sell.
I love Wordpress, I an I have been using it here for.. well, ever. When it came time to consider producing websites quickly, guess what I chose?
I have a formal education, but nothing, and I mean nothing, in the world of programming, online or off, beats doing. I have experience with php, so hacking on Wordpress was not that big a deal. The only real hurdle was that I really only ever have hacked on themes I have used. Basically The Codex and I are getting really cozy.
My whole point is this; keep mucking around with things, even if you think you know enough.
So I got an iPhone. It is wonderful. I am actually posting this from it. I am still looking for apps on it, but in a great many ways this replaces a laptop. Facebook, banking, chat, email, webbrowsing… I’m sure thres more, and I will go knot it more later, but this is mostly a test of the worpress app.
So I think I have all of the plugins, and php modules, and K2 mods back in place. I am, however only one guy, and I might have missed something. If you find anything out of wack, please let me know. I really apreciate it.
I (used to) keep 2 windows installations. 1 was a Boot Camp partition on my iMac that I installed my games on, as well as ran Quicken from. The other was a stand alone box that was an all purpose server. Apache/MySQL/php, as well my Media server.
2 days ago, both installations broke. The Boot Camp partition was killed by Paralles crashing, and the server was killed by an auto update of video drivers. Nvidia drivers, in my experience are VERY fickle, and upon a change in them, my system failed to boot.
The good news, I didn’t loose the site, only the content. The bad news, some of that content was my new photography page. Owell. The iMac is the server now, as it really should have been all along.
